Maddie Jayde Floral Design // Brisbane Wedding Florist

romantic and whimsical floral design

Maddison Walsh of Maddie Jayde Floral Design is a Brisbane based florist. She has worked alongside some of Australia’s best florists and has developed a soft, whimsical style inspired by romance. Maddie’s work is characterised by delicate blooms and colour palettes, creating in a way that feels gentle and magical.

We had the pleasure of working with Maddie on our recent Spring Romance editorial and got to chat to her about her floristry journey so far.

How did you get into floristry?

I always liked using my hands in school, I was a very hands on learner. I was always doing tech studies and graphic design, so I decided to do a floristry course at TAFE, it was only six months, so if it was bad, it was only six months of my life. I ended up really liking it, so I studied a certificate two in that first six months, then certificate three in the next six months. Then I was really lucky to do work experience with some of the best florists, so I really learnt a lot in those first couple of years as a florist.

When did you start Maddie Jayde Floral Design?

I started my business during covid, so 2020 was my first official year. I started because I had done four years of commercial floristry and I was ready for the next step, I felt confident in my skills and thought it was time to display them.

Tell us about your style and what inspires you…

My style is quite romantic, it’s a bit whimsical and I’m definitely inspired by nature, as well as architecture and film. Anything pastel and pretty, I’m there.

What’s something people should remember when thinking about their wedding florals?

Every florist I know creates best when they have a colour palette to stick to, because you want your flowers to suit the vibe of your wedding, but also trust your florist and what they can create. If you want modern florals then book someone who does really modern things with flowers and that way you’ll get something that you love and the florist will be able to perform their best and create something that’s really amazing. Choose a florist whose style aligns with yours.
