2 incredible people, 2 of Brisbane’s newest wedding venues and over 200 guests enjoying one epic celebration!

Yesterday, was such a beautiful day. We felt privileged to be trusted by Simon and Rose to capture what was such a special and meaningful day for them, surrounded by so many of their friends and family, celebrating at the newly opened Howard Smith Wharves.

To be honest, we were pretty excited to hear that Simon and Rose had booked Howard Smith Wharves for their ceremony and reception and then to find out that Rose would be getting ready at The Calile Hotel, we were curious to see these new spaces in action. There’s been some cool new things happening in Brisbane recently and these two venues are definitely at the front of it all.

We were not let down, The Calile is an architectural dream. We couldn’t get over just how it transported you somewhere else, were we still in Brisbane? Surely, we had stepped through a portal and ended up in some glorious European seaside resort. It was such a beautiful setting for the lovely Rose, who happens to be an architect, to get ready in.

The location of Howard Smith Wharves is rather unbeatable with views of rocky cliffs, the Brisbane river and of course The Story Bridge, it was a spectacular setting for Simon and Rose’s ceremony. After many congratulations and family photos, we wandered down to one of the Howard Smith Wharves cottages, where the bridal party were treated to champagne and canapés and could take a moment to relax in the air conditioning - an incredibly welcome feature on a very warm autumn day. These spaces are also incredibly photogenic, we loved making some photos inside and on the terrace.

As the sun went down, we entered the impressive Howards Hall for the reception. Simon and Rose and the Howard Smith Wharves team pulled off a really lovely evening, beautiful styling and fine dining and to finish an epic first dance.

It was such a pleasure to be a part of Simon and Rose’s day and to see such kind and genuinely lovely people come together and be celebrated.
