Sculptural Autumn Styled Shoot // The Lussh Brisbane
We had been been chatting to the lovely Davina of Fontana Floral for a while about working together and when we heard about a new Brisbane event space opening we had the perfect excuse to make something happen.
Davina and I (Jessie) met up for coffee to share ideas before stepping into the newly renovated Lushington (The Lussh), a beautifully restored Art Deco building in the heart of Woolloongabba and a gorgeous new wedding and event space.
With a beautiful canvas to work with and Davina, being an incredibly talented florist and stylist, we set to work refining our concept and building our dream team.
At the heart of Davina’s tablescape and a key inspiration for our shoot was the last of the season’s golden raintree, which hung overhead accompanied by gilded lotus leaves as a beautiful sculptural installation. Adorning the table, we were fortunate to use the most stunning smoke grey glassware from Table for Louis, matte black cutlery, white dinnerware and linen napkins from Supper Club Co and chairs and linen table cloths from The Hire Department. Each setting also included beautifully minimal stationary - menus and place cards designed by the wonderful Dani, of The Line Letterpress who also designed a complimentary invitation suite.
Davina was able to bring all of these elegant pieces together with striking blooms, candles and vases to create something that was textured, flowing, warm and emotive.
We were thrilled to photograph a beautiful real couple, Mary and Dave. Mary wore the Nikki gown with soft billowy sleeves from Karen Willis Holmes and jewellery from Dinosaur Designs. Kat McAndrew created a soft and natural makeup look for Mary and curled her long auburn hair in loose waves. Kat did a wonderful job and Mary and Dave were so lovely to work with and photograph.
One of our favourite elements of the shoot were the striking gold cloud stands from Oak Lab Design, that Davina adorned with sculptural blooms and we used as our ceremony setup. We loved seeing something different and offering an alternative to the arbors we often see at ceremonies.
We also have to give a special mention to the amazing cake created by Chloe of Bo & Co, a delightful yoghurt and raspberry cake with a peach coloured top tier and textured slate grey bottom tier.
We honestly cannot thank everyone involved enough. This styled shoot was a huge team effort and one we were so grateful to be a part of.
There has already been such a lovely response to the shoot and we feel humbled and encouraged to be surrounded by such kind and talented creatives.
