Sabrina is a dream to work with and the makeup looks that she creates are effortlessly flawless, she is one of our favourite Brisbane makeup artists.
We recently chatted with Sabrina and got to dive into a little of her story, tips for choosing the right makeup artist and preparing your skin in the lead up to your wedding.
How did Sabrina Walsh Makeup Artistry start & how did you get into weddings?
It was something that was encouraged by my regular clients at the makeup counter where I worked. Often brides would come to the counter and I would do their wedding makeup. I always felt a sense of ease doing bridal makeup. When I eventually started Sabrina Walsh Makeup Artistry in 2018, I was recommended for a wedding and I’ve been doing weddings ever since.
Have you always loved makeup & how did you learn?
It was something I was influenced to begin by a friend many years ago. I grew up with creative flair but hadn’t found my creative calling until trying makeup in a more professional setting. I did a short makeup course through one of the leading makeup programs in my area and that inspired and pushed me straight into the deep end. I learned very quickly and it soon became part of my identity.
What inspires you & what are you drawn to? Tell us about your style?
I offer a range of intentional, timeless and refined makeup looks. I am always inspired by artists from all around the world. I’m drawn to makeup that retains the look of skin. I think it’s important that the skin looks just as good in real life as it does in photos. That’s always stuck with me.
“I recognise that you are going to want to feel like the most beautiful version of yourself on your wedding day. I offer a range of soulful creative services and represent the modern day bride with dreamy, effortless, timeless makeup”
How do you come up with ideas?
I’ll often look at someone and without having to think too deeply, I just know what’s going to suit that individual. I follow my creative flow. I’m always taking mental notes of skin tone colour combinations when I see people and varying skin tones in my everyday life. Any beautiful combination of shades can be translated into the face.
What’s the best part of your job?
I love the responsibility of being a business owner. Having the ability to use my creativity and artistry to make someone feel special.
What should people keep in mind when thinking about or choosing their wedding makeup?
Decide what you value in your own makeup. What’s important to you and that’s the only way you’ll be able to confidently choose an artist that’s right for you. Rather than making a decision based on social media popularity, find someone who offers exactly what YOU find important.
