Behind the Scenes Bridal Shoot - Concept to Creation

Have you ever wondered what goes into creating a bridal photo shoot? In the video below, we're taking you behind the scenes from concept to creation as we work with Bloom Australia to create a bridal fashion editorial. From creating a mood board to setting up lighting, we'll show you how to plan and bring your own vision to life. We hope you enjoy the video.

We are ever inspired by the bridal fashion world, particularly designers who are pushing boundaries in the industry. So we were very excited to work with Sam from Bloom Australia, who has curated the most incredible selection of gowns in her Newstead showroom. We worked with Sam to pull together an editorial photo shoot to showcase some of her latest pieces, including designs by Harriette Gordon, The Law Bridal, Varca Bridal and earrings by A.B. Ellie.

We had the pleasure of photographing Swarali Yeolekar, our wonderful model and got to work with our dream hair and makeup team, Chantelle Maree Hair and Lou Hansen Makeup.

Both Sam and I (Jessie) created mood boards to refine our vision for this shoot and something we were inspired by was imagery that used strong directional light and shadows - the look of warm sunlight coming through a window, illuminating a subject and casting shadows. We also really wanted to highlight the gorgeous material textures and the movement of each design, so we wanted to play with slower shutter speeds and also thought incorporating coloured lights could be fun and add interest. These are all ideas we experimented with as we were photographing.

Overall, we were very pleased with how this photo shoot went. It was a wonderful experience with such a great team, everyone gelled so well and it was a great chance for us all to experiment, be creative and play. This is something we love doing whenever we can as it really fills our cup and fuels our creativity.
