Lou & Leon’s intimate Brisbane wedding
We have a real soft spot for smaller weddings and elopements. There’s something really special about keeping things simple and only including the things and the people that mean the most to you. Lou and Leon invited a handful of their closest to witness them exchange vows in a place that holds fond memories of good times - New Farm Park in Brisbane. They both looked exceptional, with Lou wearing The Flora Gown by Brooke Tyson paired with white boots, trailing veil and a colourful just-picked garden bouquet by TYQ Bunch, as well as hair by Lyla Clare and makeup by Miss Luxe. Leon wore a bespoke suit from Beg Your Pardon in Adelaide and looked incredible sharp.
Lou met Leon in front of the rose beds, where one of our favourite marriage celebrants, David Webber made things official in a short but sweet ceremony. Followed by grazing and champagne with loved ones, before some time for photos.
After wandering through the park and sunset photos on a rooftop carpark, Lou and Leon made their way to 1889 Enoteca in Woolloongabba for an intimate long table Italian feast in the private cellar, but not before a quick pinball detour at the arcade next door. Also, a special mention for the epic retro cake by Bo & Co - three tiers of blue piping goodness topped with cherries, it almost stole the show.
Lou and Leon’s day included only the good stuff, the whole celebration was relaxed and lovely, full of the things that were special to them.
Lou and Leon summed it up pretty perfectly when we asked them a couple of questions about their wedding
Why a small wedding?
There were so many pressures of a big wedding day. We wanted the day to be about celebrating us, and our marriage and for us that meant making things as stress free as possible so we could enjoy being with each other and our closest friends and family. It also meant that we could direct our savings into the things that were really important to us, like amazing food and the best photographers!
How did you choose where to get married and celebrate?
After moving from Brisbane to Adelaide 18 months ago, we knew we wanted to get married back in Brisbane. New Farm Park has always been such a special place for us. We love being by the water and having the city scape in the background. Rain or shine, it’s such a beautiful space.
Enoteca was always where we went for date night when we lived in Brisbane, it’s where we went to celebrate something special. It has the best food (the pork and fennel gnocchi!) and wines, and the wine cellar is the perfect space for an intimate celebration.
What was your favourite part?
It’s so hard to chose our favourite part of the day, it goes so fast! We definitely had the most laughs and fun during our photos. After all the excitement at our ceremony, it was so great to spend some time with just us, and Trent and Jessie made the us feel so relaxed and carefree.
What does marriage mean to you?
To us, marriage is about family - joining two families as well as creating our own family, just the two of us and maybe more one day! It is love and security and a forever team.
