We met Emma a few months before her wedding and were instantly struck by her glorious blue locks and super chilled and kind nature. We chatted about wedding plans and living in Mackay and then about family when Emma told us how only a month earlier her younger brother had lost his battle with melanoma. We were stopped in our tracks at this point and overcome by the weight and rawness of what Emma and her family had very recently been through.
Emma and Bryan's wedding was very much a celebration of life, a fun, colourful, gypsy-inspired celebration, that only incorporated what was important to them. To pay tribute to Emma's brother, a donation was made to the Australian Melanoma Research Foundation and each of their guests received a pin from the foundation.
As wedding photographers we gain such privileged access to the lives of others, something that continues to blow us away and bless us abundantly. We take our responsibility as memory preservers very seriously, life is precious and we owe it to our couples to capture this moment in their lives as vividly and honestly as we can.
Huge thanks to Emma and Bryan for trusting us to do this.
